When a council’s chief officer (the clerk) obtains CiLCA, this meets one criterion for the general power of competence. In England, this also contributes to Quality and Quality Gold in the Local Council Award Scheme.
FAQs:
Duration? | You will have access to the course and learning platform for 12 months once you are registered
Delivery and format? | Online and in person in 6 mentoring sessions, plus additional support if required
Commitment in hours | 200 hours of work but it includes:
- Workplace activities
- Training sessions
- Writing time
- Mentor support
- 1 Month+ check ins
How many CPD Points? | Claim a total of 20 CPD points for completing CiLCA
Price for CiLCA Mentoring with DAPTC? | £275/£450 Information Pack for CiLCA Cohort 4
What do I have to pay SLCC for the qualification? | The CiLCA Portfolio training course is separate to the qualification. Students must register for the CiLCA qualification separately.
CiLCA Portfolio Training? | We include the portfolio training in our first session in person
Any additional costs? | CLICK HERE to view the additional costs
Anything else to know? | Minimum of 12 months in post as a local council officer with a good working knowledge and understanding of a clerk’s role and work involved (can be gained by attending courses, in-house training, and practical experience). If your council built the requirement to obtain CiLCA as part of a job offer in the first year of employment - it would be worth calling us to organise a chat to understand what's possible and reasonably achievable.
