Who We Are?

Welcome!

The Dorset Association of Parish and Town Councils (DAPTC) is an organisation that represents and supports local parish and town councils throughout Dorset, a county located in the South West of England.

The association is dedicated to promoting good governance, providing guidance and training for councillors and clerks, and advocating for the interests of its member councils at the local and national levels. Parish and town councils are the most local level of government in England, with the power to make decisions on a range of issues that affect their communities, such as planning, public amenities, and community events.

DAPTC serves as a vital resource for these councils, providing advice on legal and procedural matters, as well as networking opportunities and training events to help councillors fulfill their roles effectively. The association also acts as a liaison between its member councils and other organisations, such as principle authorities and government agencies. We hope to ensure that the interests of parish and town councils are represented and that they have a voice in decision-making processes that affect their communities.

Overall, the DAPTC plays an important role in supporting local democracy and ensuring that the voices of Dorset's parish and town councils are heard and respected.
