Training Options

e-Learning is the most efficient and cost effective way to undertake training. If you haven't done an e-Learning module yet, give it whirl!

  • Cost between £10/£20 per module and discounts apply for bulk purchase
  • Take between 10 minutes to 60 minutes to complete depending on the topic
  • Include a short assessment to check understanding of the topic
  • These modules can form part of a programme of continuous learning for employees

Avoiding the need to travel, online training via Zoom or Teams works well for many councillors and clerks. These are also run weekday evenings for those working in the day.

  • Cost varies on the topic being trained between £25 to £50 per delegate per webinar
  • These are normally no longer than 2 hours
  • Theses sessions can often include a recording and post sessions resources

Some trainig topics are best delivered face to face in a physical location and we also offer whole council training where you are - just ask what we can do for your council.

  • Cost of whole council training can often be highly convenient and cost effective - get in touch to find out more
  • These will not be as frequent as online courses and may be subject to minimum numbers attending
  • Opportunity to make the content bespoke for your council

Our Annual Events are popular and allow councillors and clerks to network and meet sector suppliers.
We have two main events in early Autumn and approaching Spring.

  • Events cost a considerable amount of money to stage and manage
  • They do offer a great opportunity to network and meet colleagues across the county
  • We can attract guest speakers and other key contacts in the parish and town council sector

What do we mean by blended learning? Today training can be done via a number of complimentary formats, narrated videos, webinars and e-Learning just a few examples.

  • Increasingly we put together different formats of training to support parish and town councils
  • We also use narrated videos
  • The main driver for blended learning is to combine the convenience of videos and e-learning alongside trainer interaction too

DAPTC support the development of clerks and their teams across Dorset by running a CILCA programme for the Society of Local Council Clerks. This qualification is an excellent development programme for those new to role or any wishing to become accredited.

  • Councils are asked to consider all qualifications - ILCA, CILCA and FILCA
  • Consider carefully for new to role clerks the timing of undertaking the above qualifications
  • Find out about DAPTC Cohorts as it's important to have study uddies
