Newton Poppleford and Harpford Parish Council needs a clerk/responsible financial officer to look after our affairs.

This is a part-time post, 20 hours per week, 10 hours over 2 days in the temporary office at Bowhayes Farm, Venn Ottery, the balance of 10 hours, working from home and to include the monthly evening council meeting, plus any other meetings that Council consider necessary. It is anticipated that once in post, an assistant will be sought to cover a further 10 hours per week.

We are offering a salary in the range of LC1 14 to 28 (£15.31 per hour to £20.29 per hour) depending on experience.

Newton Poppleford & Harpford Parish is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in East Devon. It has a population of approximately 2,100 with some 1,000 residences, and is classified as a sustainable village by East Devon District Council

It has a vibrant community with numerous clubs and activities, some of which are facilitated by the Parish council’s amenities and resources. The Council has ambitious plans to continuously improve the resources of the Parish.

The person appointed will be responsible for the management of the council’s resources and will take the lead on the Council’s major projects. The Parish Clerk is accountable to the Council for the effective management of all its resources and will report to them as and when required.

The ideal candidate will be CiLCA qualified or working towards the completion of CiLCA and must have significant senior administrative experience and demonstrable financial acumen. Training and mentoring will be available to the successful candidate.
