Review of Local Validation Checklist for Planning Applications

Consultation on Dorset Council's Validation Checklist open now.

Dorset Council has been reviewing the local validation checklist for planning applications. This checklist outlines the information Dorset Council needs to validate an application based on the site’s planning constraints and the proposed development. National Planning Practice Guidance recommends reviewing the local checklist every two years.

The draft review document is now out to consultation, and feedback is welcome from Parish and Town Councils. You can find out more about how this checklist fits into the planning application process on the Dorset Council website USING THIS LINK.

Next steps

All responses received will be considered before producing the final updated document. Dorset Council aims to complete the review and adopt the updated checklist by the end of August 2025.
