Deadline looming for community groups to apply for capital funding.
Community groups, cultural organisations, and sports clubs across Dorset council area are being reminded that the deadline to apply for capital funding is fast approaching — with just three weeks left to submit applications for the September Grants Panel.
Managed by Dorset Council, the Capital Leverage Fund supports a wide range of initiatives including:
- Community spaces & Facilities
- Arts venues
- Accredited museums
- Heritage projects
- Sports facilities
- Youth and play projects
Grants can be used to refurbish, improve, or adapt existing spaces — or to develop entirely new ones. Projects must be based within the Dorset Council area and demonstrate clear benefits for Dorset Council residents, such as improved access, increased sustainability, building stronger communities and improving community engagement. Town and Parish councils who meet the grant criteria can also apply. Applications can only be submitted online, and all applicants must complete all parts of the application form including mandatory supporting documents. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Funding Details
- Grants can cover up to 20% of total project costs, up to a maximum award of £25,000.
- Applicants must show how they will raise the remaining funds themselves or through other grant funding.
- Successful applicants have up to two years to secure match funding before the council will release its grant.
Application deadline to be considered for September Panel
- Ideally completed applications need to be submitted by 14 September 2025.
- Final deadline for applications is 20 January 2026
Organisations that have recently received a Small Capital Grant award must complete their project before applying to the Capital Leverage Fund. However, those who were previously unsuccessful are welcome to apply to the Capital Leverage Fund (CLF).
