Corfe Castle Parish Council is seeking an organised, motivated and community‑minded individual to serve as its Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO).

This is a rewarding and varied role at the heart of one of Dorset’s most historic and vibrant rural communities. The Parish spans the Jurassic Coast to Poole Bay and includes the iconic Corfe Castle, thriving village life, significant heritage sites, and areas of national ecological importance. No two weeks are the same, with responsibilities ranging from governance and financial management to supporting community initiatives and coordinating work with key local partners.

About the Role

The Clerk & RFO is the Council’s principal administrator and adviser, responsible for:

  • Managing the Council’s business, governance and statutory duties
  • Preparing agendas, minutes and policy documents
  • Overseeing finances, budgeting and audit compliance
  • Supporting councillors and liaising with residents, organisations and public bodies
  • Acting as the main point of contact for the Parish Council
  • Working from home, which serves as the Council’s office

The Council is well‑run, holds “competent council” status, maintains strong governance systems, and enjoys constructive working relationships with local partners including the National Trust and Dorset Council.

About Corfe Castle

Corfe Castle is a welcoming and active community with a rich heritage, supported by numerous local charities, societies and volunteers. The village benefits from excellent communications through the Corfe Valley News and maintains a strong sense of community spirit throughout the year.
