After just under two years of conversations, research and looking at best practice in other unitary council areas, the Fresh Start Report has been published.
The report was commissioned to look at the working relationship and future aspirations for the members on the Towns and Larger Parishes Committee of DAPTC. The plan is to supplement this research by surveying the remaining DAPTC members that are smaller parishes in the Summer months to complete the feedback to be shared with Dorset Council.

There is reference to a support document in the report called a Draft Statement of Reasonable Expectations (SoRE). This document is being consulted on through to the Autumn of 2025 to help frame the basis for how parish and towns councils work with Dorset Council.
The report is 57 pages long and if you want to read a shorter version we would suggest on first reading, look at the summary at the front and then jump to the actions towards the end. It is worth 2 or 3 reads when you have time. This will feature in engagement activity by DAPTC throughout 2025.
