Becoming a clerk to your local parish or town council can be a rewarding experience. Initially it can also be quite daunting and difficult to understand.
We will try and ease you into your new role with some helpful training interventions aimed at making sense of some of the acronyms, topics and procedures required.
Dates for New Clerk Induction training are shown below.
DAPTC also offer free monthly one hour session to help new Clerks (and elected members and prospective councillors) understand how we support members in Dorset. Neil, Debbie and Lisa will be on hand to talk you through the resources available and an overview of the Dorset Association of Parish and Town Councils (DAPTC) and how we link up with National Association of Local Councils (NALC), Dorset Council and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (BCP).
Finance training for clerks and officers is available from our training partners The Parkinson Partnership, covering Internal Controls; Introduction to VAT for Local Councils; The Role of Internal Audit and Year-End Accounts and Audit. Training is run regularly throughout the year.
Communications and Data Protection (GCPR) training is available from our training partners, Breakthrough Communications. Please do check out the wide range of courses offered every month.
